Chic-ago Eats: Where to Brunch in the Windy City Part I
This past weekend I took a long over-due visit to the Windy City to check out some of the founding paradigms of modern architecture. In addition to some of the world's earliest skyscrapers and Prairie style houses, I also wanted to experience food in architecturally inspiring settings. After a few Instagram and Google searches, I ended up going to two of the chicest brunch spots in town: 3 Arts Cafe and The Allis.
In this article, I'll walk through 3 Arts Cafe at Restoration Hardware.
Located in a 4-storey Restoration Hardware in Gold Coast (anyone know anything about this neighborhood by the way? So many cute and intricately-decorated row houses), 3 Arts Cafe is a neighborhood favorite and an Instagrammer's dream. Carved out in the middle of the showroom, it's a courtyard-style transparent-ceiling cafe, with lush tropical plants, gold accent tables, and comfy sofas interweaved throughout the space.
There's a fountain in the center of the cafe, complemented by a majestic crystal chandelier.
We ordered a prosciutto plate which came with a very toasty demi baguette, sharp cheese, mustard, and grapes. For a sweet taste of the menu we got the house granola on greek yogurt with fresh berries, along with fresh grapefruit juice with sea salt and a cappuccino. Everything was delicious especially with the very attentive service we received.
Generally unless you get to the cafe before it opened, there will be a line, especially if you get there between 11-2pm, when the line can be as long as 2 hours. We went 15 minutes before it opened (straight from the airport) and there was already a line of 10 people outside but we were promptly seated right at 10am. If you do have to wait, don't despair - get a drink at the bar, and check out all RH has to offer. Just make sure you be careful not to spill rosé on the $10K sheepskin rug.
There's also a rooftop that's open to the public, with nice sofa seating and umbrellas. Great place to hang out if you want to sit and tan!
Overall, 3 Arts Cafe is a place that I'm going to revisit every time I'm back in Chicago, and I strongly recommend you check it out if you live in the city.
